I've been looking for a book like this for a long time. I collect rocks and minerals and am interested in geology, but most the textbooks are too technical and too expensive. I wanted to know how minerals form, what their make up is, how they differ from rocks, etc. This book explains that, and is written well. The photos are gorgeous! I'm not a student, but I'm very interested in what the earth is made of. The title of this book grabbed me and has held me interested to read every page.If you are interested in rocks and minerals, and geological processes, this book is for you.

I studied geology many year ago. Trying to revise things especially about minerals, I was about to buy a mineralogy book....thought of Dana's book but this was a better choice...its not just mineralogy, somewhat generic... and all the images are in color (an extremely rare thing for geology books)....A good book for someone who wants to revice many things by buying just one book! let me put it this way ...this book is mineralogy + igneous and metamorphic petrology with thousands (may be) of images in color.. worth its price

This is an excellent book but it does require some background in chemistry and it was written to be used as a college text book. It is not a casual read type of book. If you are really into mineralogy and petrology it is a good book to have on hand and spend considerable time studying it. Itis a different approach to Minerology and a welcome one.

If you are buying this because you are a geology major, ask if your professor will recommend another book. I would recommend buying the right book for petrology and mineralogy separately instead. My university started using it as a compromise, but in the end both my mineralogy and petrology professor did not like this book.

Excellent book that can be used by all people dealing in the field of the minerals industry. Very complete and updated. Very well organized and thorough in the most required topics. Clearly written by people who have profound knowledge of the subject.

About the Author Pamela Williamson, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of special education at the University of Cincinnati. She received both her doctorate of philosophy and her master s degree from the University of Florida. Her work in K-12 settings was in inclusive classrooms where she served a diverse group of students, including individuals with autism. Currently, she works with pre-service teachers, preparing them to deliver high-quality literacy instruction to all students with special needs. In addition, she works with in-service teachers to prepare them to assume roles as formal and informal teacher leaders. Her research interests include reading and autism, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, teacher leadership, and inclusion. Her work is published in Exceptional Children, Qualitative Heath Research, Social Science and Medicine, Journal of Child and Family Studies, Learning Disabilities Research and Practice, Field Methods, Beyond Behavior, and Childhood Education. Christina Carnahan, Ed.D., is an assistant professor of special education at the University of Cincinnati, where she coordinates the special education master s degree program. She received her doctorate from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Carnahan began working in recreational settings with individuals with significant disabilities as a teen. After completing her undergraduate degree in special education, she taught in K-12 settings where she served individuals across the autism spectrum. Currently, she works with pre-service and practicing teachers, preparing them to meet the diverse needs of individuals with autism and other complex disabilities. A refreshing recap (and then some) of Napoleon Hill's previous books. It's been awhile since I've read TAGR and OTD, so this was a nice compliment to add to my repertoire. It was 100% worth reading even if you've read his others.The LIVE aspect of the book makes it a more textured read as well. It flows a bit different.

Great short work from the Napoleon Hill Foundation. This is one of my favorites from the Napoleon Hill collection. In the collection of audio tapes, Hill does a great job laying out his five major principles outlining the collection, yet the book feels very much like a conversation with the dialogue between Hill and the radio host he is doing these broadcasts with. Hill's short chapters are solid throughout the book. His final major principle, "Creative Vision," does a great job tying up the five principles of the broadcasts and leaves the reader inspired, motivated, and ready to hear more from Hill.

I absolutely agree with the work with extra miles. As I have experienced it myself by giving my extra miles to the job I am working on and the return came later from other that different from the job I give the service. Thanks, Dr. Hill.
